computers!?

my computer is running slow! ever since i've got a windows xp cd rom from someone else it was running slow. when the guy gave my mom the computer without windows xp it was fine. my pc is windows 2000. do i have to delete the hard drive i mean what should i do so the computer should run fast?

3. Hi. Windows XP is a good OS but it takes more 'horsepower' to run it. If you still want to try it, add more RAM, maybe upgrade the CPU if possible, and follow the good advice from previous answers about malware removal. Remember to defragment the harddrive too.
