What do you think about giving a child many names?
What I mean is the way royalty does it. It seems more people are giving more than one middle name. As long as the first name is easy for the child to pronounce and learn to spell do you think there is any thing wrong with (just a generic totally made up example) Mary Annelise Veronica Marie Warren? What do you think the limit should be...3 names, 4 names, 5 names, etc.

- The limit should be 3....a first name, a middle name, and a last name.
- I like that name it's very pretty
- i think 2 middle names should be the most so i total of 4names otherwise the child will get confused
- Personally, I like the whole set up of first name, middle name, last name. Some people can get away with 4 names, 5 is too many!
- I think the limit should be 3. It makes it really confusing on legal documents with more than 3 names.
- The limit should be two middle names. Any more and it just looks 1. Like you were too indecisive/lazy to pick out a name so you just piled them all on your child. 2. Plain ridiculous If I ever met anyone named Mary Annelise Veronica Marie Warren I'd probably laugh at them. Well, not to their face. But in my mind I'd just be like "WTF?"
- limit should be 2-3, Like (an example) Vanessa Anna Marie Wrey Jorja Makenzie Wendy Hanna Wrey 4&up are WAYYY to much soo stick with 1-3
- 4 names max!!!
- Mildle names should be a limit of 2 try to put the 1st name and 2nd name together so they fit then add a nother name u really like before the last name like Leah Belle Sophia Ross
- i know a girl called Sarah Lousie Margeret Mary McGinty. 5. too many. 4 maximum, and only if two names are hyphonated. eg, Carly-Anna Rebecca Monks
- i think 3 is good
- I would put the limit on 2 middle names. You don't want your child's initials to be something like B.T.E.D.A.F.G!
- I think there should be a limit of three: a first name, a middle name and a last name. I hate it when people give their kids like 5 names.
- I don't like it. It smacks of pretentiousness and it's just too much of a mouthful. It's like sitting through that scene in Spy Kids over and over where Carmen rattles off her long name (turns out to be a coded password) and you just wait for it to be open so the action can start again.
- I personally feel 2 middle names are enough, BUT, I have known a few people with 3 middle names and their names are absolutely beautiful ... I haven't meat anyone with more than 3 middle names, so that's probably the maximum (not including royalty, of course) For those that have 2 or 3 middle names - they were usually the only, or the baby, so the parents gave them names to honor important people in their lives. Not a bad thing, doesn't make the parents lazy, undecided or even crazy. It simply means "this is our only/last chance to honor those people." Blessings
- I think it's a cultural thing. Some cultures have a couple of middle names, one of which is a conformation name. I really don't think there should be a limit, since it is the parents' decision; however, it can get to be a mouthful.
- My son has 2 middle names after both grandfathers, they dont get used everyday though, just on his birth certificate. i`m having my 2nd baby in July and again she will have to middle names after both her grans. I think its ok.
- I think one or two at the most middle name. My friend has 2 middle names expect one is her moms maiden name, i found that interesting. Christina Jane Barkley Johnson. (my friends name)
- I think having two middle names is fine but anything more than that is overkill, they will never use them anyway. Most forms only allow the space for one or for an initial. And when the birth announcement is printed and people read, "So&So and Whatsherface are happy to welcome Annabelle Lydia Susannah Nicole Marina Elizabeth Charlotte Bella Caroline Karina Danielle Alexia Jones into the world..." people are just going to roll their eyes. But I don't see anything wrong with 2 middles, one of the names I like for our future children is Anneka Megan Rose Mc******.
- I know a person who has 6 middle names. so i think having as many names is okay, its up to u really.
- Your child, your names. But I agree, the first name should be easily pronounced and easily spelled. TX Mom
